Our course
Our course can be found at Middle Rixdale Farm, Chudliegh, Newton Abbot, Devon TQ13 0BW off the Teignmouth Road that runs from the A380. The course consists of 36 3D targets laid out in pairs on our grounds (see map above), there are 26 of them in the woods and the remainder in the wild flower meadows through which you pass to enter the woods. You enter the course through the open gate where you leave your tag on the tag board. Pass through the field, heading forwards to the first target pair on peg 1. Then follow the mown paths along the fence, then past the metal gate and through the opening in the fence and down the field to peg 2 and then back through the gap in the hedge to collect the arrows and across the filed heading right to peg 3. After collecting the arrows enter the wood directly on the left to peg 4 and then peg5. Go down the steps and across the bridge to the targets on 5, collect your arrows and then retrace your steps back towards peg 5 turning right to peg 6. Down the hill crossing the bridge to collect the arrows and then follow the path to a third bridge, across this and along the path to peg 7. Peg 7 is a single deer shot from the bottom of the steps for red/white then climb the steps heading right and downwards for the blue peg and then on to cross the stream to the target to collect your arrows. Return across the stream and continue on the path to peg 8 shooting the target and then climb to collect your arrows and through the fence to the right on to peg 9. Peg 9 is a downhill shot, so walk downhill to collect the arrows, turn around and walk to the right uphill towards peg 10 and the picnic area (tea tent for competitions. Peg 10 is a downhill shot, walk down and across the stream to collect your arrows, pegs 11 and 12 are to your right on the same side of the stream, they are single target pegs and each archer should shoot both pegs before the next archer takes their place. Now back across the stream to collect your arrows pass through the valley and up the steps at the far end to reach peg 13 which is another downhill shot. After collecting your arrows continue on to peg 14 which is a single target now carry on to peg 15 and after collecting your arrows climb out to the woods. You will find peg 16 on the exit from the woods and then nearby peg 17. From 17 you trek across the fields to peg 18 and after collecting your arrows walk to the right upwards towards the fence and peg 19. From peg 19 cut through the gap in the fence and upwards to peg 20, after collecting your arrows it is a straight walk heading slightly right to the entrance gate. A map of the course can be found on the enclosure on the side of the barn.
Please be aware that minor changes are made regularly to the course, changing the position of a target, or changing the actual 3D targets in use.
Visitors
We welcome visitors to use the course however you must be a full member of the NFAS to shoot the course.

On parking in the car park you will find a sign in book on the side of the barn together with details of how to enter the course. Please use the book to give us your name and NFAS membership number and please leave the sign in time and the time you leave the course in the book for your own safety. There is a honesty box by the sign in book for you to leave the fee (currently £5.00) for using the course or you can pay at Rixdale Archery Shop on the road outside the course.

We use a tag system, found with the visitors book to identify those on the course and provide visitor tags for you to use on the tag board by the gate into the main course (or woods).
Please be aware that we are open seven days a week and there may well be other archers shooting at the same time.
There is a toilet to the left after the entrance and a second toilet and rest area at the mid point of the course just past the peg 10.
In line with NFAS rules you must have your NFAS membership card and a whistle with you at all times whilst on our course and may be asked to show the card by members of the club. Visitors should also make themselves aware of the clubs own rules regarding shooting on our course before they enter the course.
If you need to leave the course early please take great care as the only safe way is to follow the target pegs around from 1 to 20, as crossing the field on the way out would mean walking across a live shooting area.
